Ask Claude
Once Claude is connected, ask it about members, teams, revenue, how to do things in FMS, and what has changed.
Questions to try
- "Is jane@example.org a member and when does it end?"
- "Draft a reply to this member explaining their renewal date." Paste the member's email first.
- "What did we net last month in USD?"
- "How many members renewed in September?"
- "Which teams have all their seats used?"
- "How do I give someone free access for three months?"
- "A member says they cannot read an article. What should I check?"
- "What changed in FMS this week, and why?"
- "When is the cutover planned?"
- "Which decisions am I being asked to confirm?" (Owners, Membership managers and Finance)
- "What still blocks the cutover?" (Owners)
Claude shows amounts per currency. It will not add Thai baht to US dollars, and neither does FMS.
Ask how to do something
Claude reads this guide too. Ask it how to do something and it finds the page, then answers with the steps, the screen and the warnings from it. It reads the guide as it was when FMS was last updated on the server, so a page changed since then can be a little behind.
Ask what changed, and what is planned
Claude reads the project pages of this guide: the changelog, the roadmap, the decision board and the risk board. They are built into FMS, like the rest of this guide, so Claude answers from them as they were when FMS was last updated on the server, and says which day that was. A change made since then reaches Claude at the next update. Each answer links to the card or change on this guide.
| You can ask about | Your role |
|---|---|
| What changed, why, and the roadmap | Every role, Developers and Viewers included |
| The decision board | Owners, Membership managers and Finance |
| The risk board | Owners |
Claude never reads the full engineering records. For those, it points you to the record by number, for example decision 21 or risk FIN-3. There is nothing to connect: if Claude can answer at all, it can read these.
Asking about one member
When you ask about one person's payments, give their whole email address. Claude matches it exactly, so ann@example.org never brings back joann@example.org. When a renewal failed and Stripe is trying the card again, the member is in grace. They keep reading for up to 30 days while Stripe retries (decision card 21). Claude says so and gives the date their grace ends.
Recent payments lists up to 25 lines unless you name a member. With a member's whole email address it lists up to 100.
About members, teams and money, Claude reads the same for every role. A Viewer's Claude can answer what an Owner's can. Only the decision and risk boards depend on your role, as above. Your role is recorded on Audit.
What Claude can and cannot see is on Is it safe?.
Which environment Claude reads
Claude reads whichever environment the console is switched to: production, or the sandbox an owner is working in. It reads one only after an owner has switched Claude on for it. Every answer says which environment it came from. An answer from a sandbox starts FMS sandbox "…": test data, not real members or money. Never pass such an answer on as real.
If an owner switches the console to an environment where Claude is off, your connection stays, but Claude refuses every question until the console is back on an environment where it is on. Your account shows which environment is active and whether Claude is on there.
Ask a lot at once?
If you ask Claude a great many questions in an hour, Claude is paused and FMS emails its admin address. See When something goes wrong.
