| Word | What it means |

| Access | Whether someone can read members-only content. Decided by FMS, not by Stripe. |
| Capability | One named thing a member is allowed to do, such as read a members-only article. |
| Comp | A free membership. Nobody is charged, ever. |
| Consolidation | The repair screen that compares FMS, Stripe and Mailchimp and fixes differences. |
| Dead letter | A message FMS failed to deliver so many times that it stopped trying. Needs a human. |
| Environment | A complete copy of the system with its own database. Production, or a sandbox. |
| External | Paid outside Stripe, usually by bank transfer, and recorded by hand. |
| Gate | The lock the WordPress plugin puts on members-only content. |
| Grant | Access given by hand from the admin portal, rather than bought at a checkout. |
| Master switch | The single tick box in WordPress that puts FMS in charge of the gate. |
| Outbox | The queue FMS puts messages in before sending them, so nothing is lost or sent twice. |
| Plan | One thing you sell, with a name and a price. |
| PMPro | Paid Memberships Pro, the old membership plugin FMS replaces. |
| Reroute | Moving a member's billing to a different Stripe account so their card works. |
| Sandbox | A practice environment. Test cards work here and nowhere else. |
| SCA | The bank asking a member to confirm a payment in their banking app. |
| Seat | One person's place on a team membership. |
| Service key | The long secret starting fms_sk_ that lets WordPress talk to FMS. |
| Settlement | What actually reached the bank after Stripe took its fee. |
| Teaser | The first few paragraphs of a gated article, shown to everyone. |
| Whitelist grant | A comp membership with an end date. Access drops to free Community when it passes. |
